It’s Prime Time

I remember in high school how I just put my makeup on from time to time without a primer.  I never even heard of a primer in high school.   Now in the beauty world, before putting on foundation, primer is the first step to actually beginning your beauty routine.  Ha!

But with good primers being so pricey, how do you choose? It can be so overwhelming. Ugh!  I remember my walk into Ulta to look for a really good primer.  I had no idea what to get. One person said you don’t want a silicone based, another said,  silicone primers are good for a flawless make-up application and so on.  So what do I do?  Well, the answer is simple, try an assortment of them to see which ones suits you best.

Now, I must say,  I am still searching for some good primers but here are the ones I’ve tried and my thoughts on each one.

BM primerBare Minerals Prime Time Foundation – I LVE this primer and this one is actually by far the best one I have tried.  So what do I like about it?  Well, I love that it’s pigmented so it gives my skin a beautiful, nice glow and I also love how smooth it goes on to my skin and blends out my pores.  Out of all the primers I have tried so far, this one is by far the absolute BEST and my favorite.  I’m shocked that I don’t hear about it as much.

Tarte poreless primerTarte Poreless Mattifying Primer – I got this because I heard Dani from “Coffee Break with Dani” on Youtube rave about this product.  She said it was good for people with oily skin and wearing this will make your makeup last practically all day without worrying that you’re going to be shiny.  The product itself claims to give you a 12 hour wear time so that’s pretty impressive.

However, I think I may have to try this out a little bit more.  I do believe the long wearing claims it advertises because when I wear this my makeup does seem to last pretty much all day but I’m not so sure if it holds back the oiliness. 😦  My skin lately seems to have changed.  I used to always have dry skin now it seems like it’s oily and unfortunately, when I wear this, after a few hours my face looks like an oil slick. 😥  I really do like this primer for the long wear it gives me so I’m going to give it a few more tries and really pay attention to see if it holds the oil back or not and will post another review.

WnW primerWet & Wild Photo Focus Primer – I wasn’t impressed with this primer.  It was “OK” but it truly didn’t perform well.  To me, it wasn’t long lasting.

pixi primerPixi by Petra Flawless Primer – Another one of my favorite primers – hands down. ♥ One reason I like this primer is because it’s water based.  Plus, the ingredient list are full of natural and good for the skin anti-aging ingredients that also work to keep the face from getting shiny.  This primer is moisturizing, nourishing, anti-aging and it goes well with all of my foundations.  I lve this primer and it will always be a repurchase.

catrice primerCatrice Prime & Fine – Not for me. I did not like this at all and again was disappointed in this primer’s performance. I don’t feel like it gave me a good base to apply foundation.

maybelline primerMaybelline Face Studio Master Prime – Not bad.  If I had to pick a favorite drugstore find that’s reasonable, this would be it.  On the days I didn’t wear my Bare Minerals primer, I would reach for this and wasn’t disappointed.  A great drugstore primer at an affordable price.

And that about wraps up our prime-time session.  If there are some drugstore primers or non drugstore, as well, that you like and feel like you can’t be without.  Please let me know so I can give them a try.

Ciao for now friends. 😉

My Micellar

Pureté Thermale 3-in-1 One Step Solution

Hello my beautiful friends.  I am coming to you with a review that I haven’t seen a lot of.  “Vichy Purete Theremale 3 in 1 One Step Micellar Solution.”

I’m shocked a lot of people aren’t talking about this.  With all of the micellar waters on the market, I have to say this is absolutely one of the best I’ve tried. It not only removes every trace of make-up but it also leaves your skin moisturized and really clean.  I was pleasantly surprised at how well this stuff works.

So if you’re in the market for a good micellar water give Vichy a try.

The Specifics on Pacifica

blog

I think I’m probably the biggest fan of organic skincare and makeup. I was so thrilled that a product line came out that would be good for my skin and not harm it in the long run.

I  remember the days when Pacifica first came out, I couldn’t wait to try their make-up and skin care items.  The eagerness was getting to me.  I was so eager to see if their products were going to deliver the magic I was looking for. With vegan friendly and “good for you” skin-loving ingredients I was happy a company was formed that understood my skin care desires.

After all, Pacifica has a range of products that will keep me looking good and smelling good from head to toe with skincare,  makeup, lotions, perfumes and even nail polish. All nontoxic cosmetics with innovative formulations.  The wait was over.  I finally, purchased my first product.  Wow! Nice! I thought to myself as I put on my mineralized eyeshadow.  It stayed on all day and I truly loved it.

Yes, my first Pacifica product was an eye shadow palette.   I fell in love with it after the first use when I saw how pigmented it was and that it stayed on my eyes all day and that was without a setting mist. 🙂   However, after a few tries of some of their other products: the “Cactus & Kale Recovery Lotion”, the “Dreamy Youth Face Day & Night Cream” & the “Quinoa Sensitive Face Wash”, I wasn’t impressed.  I was down right disappointed in the performance of these products.  The face creams weren’t moisturizing as they claimed they would be and the Quinoa face wash didn’t do anything miraculous for my skin.

In no way am I bashing Pacifica because they have some products that are fairly good such as the “Sea Foam Face Wash” and the “Rice Bright” face scrub but I feel when it comes to organic skin care, make sure you truly shop around and try out the products instead of falling into the hype.  There are some good organic skin care lines that really deliver what they claim. So if a line or product doesn’t work for you it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s not a good product, it just means it’s not good for you regardless of how it was hyped up to be.

So, remember, in the world of organic skin care and make-up stick to what works for you and not what other people say is a good product.

As Always,

Love,

Are You Lashing Out at Me?

With my sensitive eyes, I have been looking for the perfect mascara. One that will lengthen my lashes without causing irritation to my eyes.  I have tried several brands and with some I end up looking like a raccoon by the end of the day or I have to keep wiping my watery eyes because they’re irritating me.

Well, thankfully, with all the brands I’ve tried (and it’s been a few) I finally found some that are true to their claim. Listed below are the mascaras that work for me regarding sensitivity, length and giving me those long luscious lashes we’re all after and those that failed.

Hall of Fame

  1. Makeup Forever
    make-up forever
In one word WOW! This mascara is amazing. It gave my lashes the false lash effect without the irritation. Ahh… a sigh of relief-long, dark lashes without clumps, cakiness, irritation or rub-offs. This mascara definitely gets two thumbs up for making my lashes look beautiful and not budging until I take it off.
  2. Benefit They’re Real Mascara
    Benefit

I put this one up there with Makeup Forever as well. My lashes were so long it actually looked like I had lash extensions. A+ Benefit.

3. Tarte – Lights, Camera, Lashes
Tarte
I heard good things about this mascara but for me it didn’t deliver what they claimed. I’ve had better outcomes with other mascaras on lengthening and believe for the price Tarte charges, they should have come through as promised. On thing I didn’t like is the rub-off. I ended up with raccoon eyes at the end of the day.  However, I do give it a thumbs up for no irritation, coating my lashes nicely & lengthening a bit but not to the false lash effect as they advertise. Why Tarte?!? I really wanted to like this. 😦

4. Lancôme Définicils High Definition Mascara
Lancome
I probably should have put this as number one since this is my staple make-up item. I can not say enough about this product. There is no irritation, it elongates my lashes to long natural looking lashes, has absolutely no rub-off and no heavy lash feeling or cakiness. I’ve always been a fan of Lancôme’s mascaras and this by far truly does what it says.

Hall of Shame

  1. Almay Get Up & Grow
    Almay
NO! This gets a big N…O… So, ok, I don’t know if I got a bad product or something but this mascara disappointed me to where I almost called the manufacturer myself. My eyes were burning and watering so bad I had to take it off.  What happened with Almay? I thought this product was made for people with allergies and sensitivity to chemicals. #HighlyDisappointed
  2. Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Fake Out
    PF
So, being that Almay didn’t deliver its claims they posted on their packaging, I tried Physician’s Formula for my sensitive eyes and hmm….what a let down! I ended up looking like a panda at the end of the day the rub-off was so bad. And, as far as the false lash effect, yeah right, What happened PF because I never saw it?!?! I can honestly say though, this product did not irritate my eyes and for that I commend PF for a sensitive eye formulation, but for a false lash effect – this is not the one.

And the EYES have it…

eyes

So I’ve searched and I’ve tested.  What is the best eye cream?!?  Well I found it!:-) Actually, I found two.  Two eye creams that gave me remarkable results and I’m happy to report those two products to you.  I hope it works well for you as they did for me. First up….

StriV eye creamStriVectin SD –

I couldn’t wait to use the StriVectin products when they first came out then I got a look at the price.  Uh…never mind but one day I truly needed an eye cream that worked to take away the puffiness, so I finally gave in and thought about giving StriVectin a try.  I was AMAZED.  The StriVectin SD eye cream really did work.  I was so happy that I purchased this amazing eye cream.  After trying so many over the counter products, splurging on this was a wise choice.  Even though some beauty products may cost a pretty penny, please listen to me when I say, treat yourself every now and then  because you will be happy you did.

korres eye creamKorres Quercetin & Oak Anti-wrinkle Eye Cream

One thing I really liked about this eye cream is how well it moisturized my under eye area exceptionally well. Besides taking away my puffiness and possibly crows feet :-/ this eye cream did wonders.  This is one to surely keep in stock.

Ok friends, until next time – stay beautiful and keep it simple.
